  • On Talk is Jericho, Batista revealed that he has contacted WWE several times about returning to face Triple H. We Almost Saw the Bully Ray Character in WWE But There’s an Interesting Reason Why it was Nixed

Bully Ray is on his own again as a singles wrestler since long-time tag team partner Devon Dudley is retired and working behind the scenes in WWE. But this is how Bully Ray prefers things and he revealed that his first WWE stint ended because he wanted to be a single wrestler. He almost got his wish on this recent stint because he was very close to splitting off and becoming Bully Ray in WWE.

In an interview with ESPN.com, he talked about how close WWE was to pulling the trigger on that character. He said;

“We were one day away from becoming Bully Ray in WWE.” He continued, “One of the problems with having Bully Ray in the WWE was the word bully. How could they have a guy named Bully when they had the ‘Be a STAR’ program? It was a little too risky for them.”

Although many WWE heels play bullies, the issue with the Bully Ray character is that the company felt that the entire character was centered around bullying people and that was too risky for Be a STAR.

He left WWE on good terms and eventually joined ROH. He said, “They were actually interested in bringing in both me and D-Von into Ring of Honor, which would’ve been insane. D-Von had made a life decision where he wanted to devote a little more time to his family and physically in the ring wanted to slow it down just a little bit. I still have gas in the tank. I think Ring of Honor was the perfect place for me to continue as Bully Ray.” He added that he had a huge offer to return to Impact Wrestling but he knew that it was not the right decision and he is in love the the passion of the ROH locker room and the fans.

He still has a lot left in the tank so it doesn’t look like retirement is in his immediate future but when the day comes then he could end up taking on a role behind-the-scenes. He added, “I have been asked in the past by the higher-ups in WWE if I’d be interested in being a producer, and when the time is right hopefully that position is still available.”

I’d say that things are going well for him and the move to ROH was a wise one. He hasn’t been with ROH for too long and he is already a 6-man Tag Team Champion alongside The Briscoe Brothers.

Vince Russo Disrespects Wrestlers and Fans

Vince Russo Shoots on Podcasters and WWE Superstars

Vince Russo recently had some scathing words for rival podcasters calling them “marks” a derogatory term for wrestling fans. Is this simply attention seeking behavior to increase the Vince Russo Brand? Possibly, but it appears there are Russo’s true feelings and that he believes every word he says. Vince is aggressively targeting rival podcasters as he would be more successful if he discredits his competition. More on Vince Russo can be found at Russo’s Brand.

You Can’t Work a Worker 003 – Explicit Content, Sullen Bayley, Vince Russo Burial, Philly Phil vs Victor Giovanni

Warning this podcast contains some explicit language that some will find offensive. Listen at your own risk.

Billy Reil and Philly Phil do another podcast, which due to the spontaneous format became explicit at times. Bayley vs Alexa Bliss is discussed for probably too long, followed by critique on recent programming. Then the duo are joined by newcomer Victor Giovanni who immediately delivers a well furious excoriation of rival podcaster Vince Russo. Victor moves on to target the WWE’s current product and specifically Kevin Dunn. At this point, Philly Phil’s laid back mood is disrupted, him being a longtime WWE apologist and loyalist. While the debate became heated to the point Billy Reil needed to diffuse the argument, there were no ad hominem fallacies. Once again, Reil and Giavonni use colorful language, however Phil keeps it clean throughout the show’s entirety.

WWE News Today – Undertaker Spotted in NY, Goldburger, Brock Lesnar Return

WWE News and Rumors May 4, 2017

  • Monday after Raw went off the air, the live audience witnessed Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins playfully goad The Miz into delivering his famous catch phrase “I’m the Miz and I am Awesome”. The Miz was willing to do this, however Dean, Finn and Seth decided to give him their finishers. At one point in the post dark segment, Bray Wyatt, who was still under the ring, scurried to the locker room, which caused the audience to burst into joyful laughter.
  • On Smackdown Tuesday, before the show went to live broadcast, there was a dark match seeing Luke Harper defeat Viktor of the Ascension.
  • WWE has changed the name of a PPV that was to be called Bad Blood, a returning name that was used years ago, to Great Balls of Fire. While this has been met with a magnitude of criticism, this event will also feature the return of WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. The event will take place July 9 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas and will air live on the WWE Network.
  • While Brock Lesnar’s first challenger is unknown, the rumors currently three possible opponents. Finn Balor, the first Universal Champion is one of these possiblities. The other two ideas would be Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.
  • The first ever WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins has now abbreviated his ring name to simply TJP.
  • Adam Cole’s ROH contract has expired and while he will continue to wrestle there for now, he is more in demand now than at any point in his career. Both NJPW and WWE are interested and chances are good he will reach an agreement with WWE as it is the most sensible progression for him.
  • The Undertaker and wife Michele McCool were spotted and photographed in Manhattan yesterday entering a hospital. We know Taker was planning to undergo much needed hip surgery that has been delayed so he can continue to wrestle. While the surgery has not been confirmed it is the most likely explanation.
  • Goldberg is doing a “meet, greet and eat” at the Sugar Factor in Las Vegas May 20. This will include a limited edition “Gold-Burger”, which is as massive as it is extravagant.
  • Shawn Michaels will co-star in “Pure Country: Pure Heart” with legendary country music singer Willie Neslon. Like Shawn’s last smash hit, “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone” this is being produced by WWE Studios. This is a music driven story and will be released August 1, 2017 on DVD, Blue Ray and On Demand.
