WWE News Today 5/1/17 – Jeff Hardy Gets Tooth Knocked Out, Ken Shamrock vs Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre

WWE News and Rumors for May 1, 2017

  • During last night’s WWE Payback event, Jeff Hardy had a tooth knocked out after a kick from Sheamus. The Hardyz were still able o win the match, retaining the Raw Tag Team Championships. Brian the Guppy posted a clip of this on twitter.
  • Ken Shamrock recently did an interview with Hannibal TV where he claimed that in his prime he could beat Brock Lesnar is a legit fight. He attributes this to Lesnar’s limited fighting skills and inability to be an effective striker. Also in the interview he stated that he should get another chance in WWE because he brought in all the moves that the talent is currently using. Wrestling INC provided a partial transcript of the interview.
  • Billy Corgan has purchased the National Wrestling Alliance. This includes the name and all related trademarks including the NWA classic World Championship Title. This was reported by PWInsider.
  • Drew McIntyre finished up all of his independent commitments outside the WWE and is now set to be there full time in NXT.
  • Sean Waltman was unable to make an independent wrestling event overseas this past weekend leading many to fear the worst. Those close to X-Pac, namely Kevin Nash, say he’s great and that there is nothing to worry about.

High Risk, Low Reward – An Unapologetic Probe into the WWE Landscape of Today

Do you remember when you were a true wrestling fan? A fan who hardly bitched and moaned, a fan who didn’t know ‘insider-terms’, a fan who looked forward to seeing their favorite wrestlers on Saturday morning television even though they knew that for the most part what they were about to see interviews promoting upcoming house shows and squash matches. It seems like forever ago, looking back on things with the power that the internet wields, it certainly feels like none of those shows ever mattered. They are not scheduled to be a part of the WWE Network, hardly spoke about, and if you are a current fan and don’t have an uncle or aunt, the terms “Action Zone. WWF Superstars, WWF Challenge, WWF Spotlight, All-Star Wrestling, All-American Wrestling, Tuesday Night Titans, Prime-Time Wrestling, Saturday Night’s Main Event, The Main Event, Shotgun Saturday Night, hell, even Super Astros is never brought up in any conversation as if they were never part of the giant corporation known today as WWE’s Lexicon. In latter years the programming started to include upper midcard talent competing against mid-card talent; which was slightly better than your usual ‘local enhancement talent’ such as weekend warriors Barry Hardy, Sonny Blaze or Nick Berc. With that decision being made, executives hoped that the ratings would increase guessing that fans would stick around for a promoted main event of Freddie Joe Floyd VS Mantaur rather than a graphic stating “Coming up Roddy Piper in action”.

In the 2000’s, WWE slightly changed the content of it’s shows depending on the rating. For example if the show was taped, promoted, and aired as a ‘G’ rating then all blows to the head and neck would be removed.

Imagine a PRO-WRESTLING SHOW WITHOUT THIS, BUT SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY THE WWE DID IT. WWE PRODUCED ‘EXCESS’, ‘ATTITUDE, ‘Confidential’,’Velocity’,’E.C.W’, M.S.G. Classics.’F.C.W.’

‘Saturday Morning Slam’ and finally another rendition of ‘Superstars’. Say what you want about the WWE Product whether RAW or Smackdown, but people still watch. People still complain Monday through Monday, but whether they are the minority or whether they just can’t help themselves. The people who bitch and moan are still tuning into the USA network at 9: pm on Monday night, As a journalist, I’ve lost interest quite frankly, as there isn’t much to report. The in-ring quality is at an all- time high, the athletes on the current roster top to bottom are in the best shape of any collection of rosters within the past 20-30 years, so what seems to be the problem here ? Why was RAW so boring to me this past mon night ? RAW was So boring or as ‘Shooter’ McNulty likes to say “It’s not RAW, it’s processed!” so much so that I didn’t bother even watching WWE Smackdown ? The answer is out there, and like an old adage would read “Seek and ye shall find”.

Beings that I missed the WWE Smackdown show, I’m gonna have to go on my vuse player, hit up good ole piratebay and help myself to a heap a helping hawkinslesshumanity. Because the lord knows I would fall fast asleep as that man is the most boring wrestler that ever lived. He has no flaws as far as footwork or within his transition, but he as a performer walks around the ring half-pregnant, void of any direction, and lacks confidence. It’s like he knows that we know that he knows that we know he’s not getting pushed. Very strange vibe and not in a good way. As a journalist, I don’t bury anybody in the wrestling business, but there’s just something about Hawkins that screams “NICE GUY” or” GOOD HAND” you can use any number of backhanded compliments that many do in wrestling circles to describe Hawkins current run. Hawkins is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with the WWE television programming- Too good to be considered bad, but not good enough to be considered great. Complacency! There’s no real competition, so there is nothing driving the WWE to step there game up, they aren’t fighting for advertising dollars with a rival company, they aren’t enticing that red, hot free agent to go to the WWE, They are not fighting for that hot new timeslot….THEY ARE NOT FIGHTING ! THEY HAVE NO FIGHT LEFT IN THEM ! THEY HAVE NO FIGHT !

And this lies in the problem with monopolies. A sad tale indeed. Look at how many times that the WWE and WCW/NWA would go toe to toe for every unspent consumer penny. Whether it was the 4 Horseman or the NWO, The Dangerous Alliance or Degeneration Sex. There was always a fight, always a battle to be won, but nowadays the only fight left is between your eyelids and eyeballs as to stay awake or fall asleep. This article could turn into a 12 part manifesto if I allowed it to, but the question remains unanswered. How do you fix the WWE television product ? How do you make it the shit that it used to be ? Please feel free to leave messages below as we converge to fix the problem . Is it the writing team, is it the production crew, is it the talent ? OR is the answer more simple than anyone could imagine. IS THE PROBLEM VINCE MCMAHON ?

WWE Payback Betting Odds Project a Major Title Change

Paddy Power makes bets available only to The UK and Ireland. The odds can still be followed but anyone in the world however.

The betting odds for this Sunday’s Payback have been posted by Paddy Power, a sportsbook available in Ireland and The UK. A possible title change is projected at this point but the lines often change. This becomes more dramatic when odds are offered to the global market later in the week.

Early odds of 4/7(64% probability) see Alexa Bliss winning against Raw Women’s Champion Bayley. This does not necessarily mean Bayley loses the title in the event of a count out or DQ, but the bet would be graded as a win for Bliss. All other champions are currently projected to retain. Kevin Ovens is favored over Chris Jericho for the US Championship, Neville is favored to retain the Cruiserwieght Title against Austin Aries and the Hardyz are projected to retain the Raw Tag Titles against Cesaro and Sheamus.

Braun Strowman has odds of 1/2 ,or a nearly 67% probability. Booking patterns would suggest with the onslaught of abuse Braun has put Roman through that Reigns would get his revenge by beating Strowman in the match. This may not be the case as Braun did suffer a loss in a dumpster match with Kalisto on the go home Raw leading into Payback.

The House of Horrors match has odds favoring Randy Orton at 4/6(60% probability) against Bray Wyatt. This match is Wyatt’s creation, Raw is his home brand and Orton’s WWE Championship isn’t even on the line. A strong case can be made that Wyatt should be favored and the odds on this match could easily flip in the other direction.

Seth Rollins is a 4/9 favorite to defeat Samoa Joe and on the Kick Off Show, Enzo and Big Cass are 4/7 favorites to beat Gallows and Anderson.

WWE News Today 4/25/17 – Vince McMahon Movie, Lana Dances, Shaq on Why He Didn’t Do Wrestlemania

WWE News Today April 25, 2017

  • A biopic on Vince McMahon and his conquering of the pro wrestling industry is in the works by Sony Tristar. The title will be “Pandamonium” and WWE Studios is involved with President Michael Liusi being one of the producers. This is going to be a really interesting film. Is Vince willing to have his life over-sensationalized to drive box office numbers?
  • Lana tested out a new gimmick at an NXT Live event in Crystal River, FL. This gimmick involved her dancing and it is believed she will be doing something like this when she debuts for the Smackdown Brand. Furthermore, it looks as if WWE will break up the act of Rusev and Lana, possible stemming from Rusev getting an unauthorized haircut.
  • Roman Reigns was backstage for Raw Monday Night in Kansas City but was obviously not used in any way on the show itself.
  • WWE has parted ways with Chris Atkins. Atkins had been working for NXT, but was seldom used on live events. The release of this Australian bodybuilder was originally reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet.
  • Crazzy Steve has decided to part ways with Impact Wrestling and has been offered a contract by WWE. He would most likely debut in NXT. Gunner is also looking to be NXT bound provided he can pass the WWE’s physical.
  • WWE has announced that it will be holding tryouts in Dubai April 26-29. 40 men and women in total will be part of this tryout, intended to recruit premiere talent from the Middle East and India in the WWE’s commitment to presenting the most talented athletes in the world.
  • Shaq recently revealed details of why he didn’t have a match at Wrestlemania 33 with The Big Show. At one point in the talks, WWE wanted this to be a six man match and after Shaq refused WWE canceled. Shaq then made other plans and the WWE tried to reopen the talks after this, but Shaq said “They messed it up”.

Who Has the Best Odds at WWE Money in the Bank 2017?

[clink id=”68″ target=”_blank”]Grosvenor Casinos[/clink] makes bets available only to The UK and Ireland. The odds can still be followed but anyone in the world however.

Money in the Bank, a Smackdown exclusive PPV is nearly 2 months away and betting odds are already available for the MitB match itself, even though there have been no participants officially announced. Grosvenor Casinos has set odds on 16 potential winners and with 6 participants traditionally being set for these matches, obviously not all of these will be involved. On occasion WWE will allow more than 6 participants, however the most ever has been 10. This is not a reference to Tye Dillenger, who has odds of +2000, which is an under 5% probability of winning. A successful bet here would multiply their money by twenty-fold, so a $100 bet would win $2000.

So what happens to bets on wrestlers that never end up being in the match? Those bets would be graded as a loss because this is more of a prop bet based on potential of both being in the match and winning. Technically none of these choices are guaranteed to be entered in the match but realistically all the participants are likely to be from this lot.

It’s no secret that WWE is very serious about Baron Corbin becoming a top level player this year and a MitB win is plausible if not likely. At odds of +150, Corbin has the best chances out of anyone to take the briefcase and the right to cash it in for a WWE Championship title shot at a time of his choosing. This is a 40% chance of winning and from a field of 16 hopefuls, these are outstanding odds.

The next most favorable odds have been set for Shinsuke Nakamura at +200, a 33% probability. After great success in both NJPW and NXT, Nakamura finally made his way to the WWE main roster as part of the Superstar ShakeUp, joining the Smackdown Brand. With the big plans for Shinsuke eminent, a MitB win a few months into this run would solidify the “King of Strong Style” as a top level talent in the permanent title picture.

With odds of +250, or a 28% chance, Kevin Owens is the next most likely to win this match. He’s already proven that he not only can hang in the main event scene, but that he absolutely belongs there as he has built a reputation for delivering big time in top matches. After a well received reign as Universal Champion on Raw, Owens has joined Smackdown with sights on winning that brand’s most coveted prize.

AJ Styles, who has a nice title reign as WWE Champion recently, is 4th most likely at +400, a 20% probability. This would appear to be an undervaluation of Styles and because of this the lines could move in his favor if gamblers back him under his current odds. AJ, having just arrived in WWE last year, has never won a Money in the Bank match and this is an accomplishment that would be another feather in his cap.

Below is a full list of potential winner with their odds. These are expected to change as we near to MitB on June 18.

WWE Money in the Bank 2017 Betting Odds

Baron Corbin +150

Shinsuke Nakamura +200

Kevin Owens +250

AJ Styles +400

WWE News Today 4/21/17 – Where Have Triple H and Stephanie McMahon Been? Vader Faints in Japan, Paige Return

  • Triple H and Stephanie are currently on vacation in the Caribbean and have posted photos on instagram. It is being said that the reason Stephanie was put through a table at Wrestlemania is so she could have time off for this vacation.
  • Vader fainted after a match in Japan during a ceremony for Tatsumi Fujinami. This was the aftermath of a 6-man tag team match involving Vader and Fujinami at Korakuen Hall. Vader was able to regain consciousness and leave on his own. He later claimed it had nothing to do with his heart and that it was something involving his head.
  • Roman Reigns is off for the weekend events for the Raw Brand but is being advertised for WWE Raw this Monday Night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
  • There are high hopes at the top of the WWE management totem poll for Baron Corbin. Even with the rise in interest for Braun Strowman, Corbin is considered to have more potential of the two. Baron is now being groomed for a WWE Championship match later this year. This is said to be a driving force behind why Jinder Mahal was put in the title picture in order to buy time for Corbin to be as prepared as possible for the opportunity. A major overhaul in his gimmick could be underway including new entrance music.
  • Even with the plans for Corbin to be elevated to the WWE Championship picture, expect AJ Styles to get a title opportunity against Randy Orton before then on the Smackdown Brand.
  • Paige’s neck has healed up but the Wrestling Observer reports that WWE has no plans for her to return at this point.
  • The Bollywood Boyz have been renamed the Singh Brothers to serve in a factor headed by #1 Contender to the WWE Championship Jinder Mahal.

Betting Odds on Who Will Dethrone Brock Lesnar and Become Universal Champion

Grosvenor Casinos offers betting odds on WWE Events and Scenarios. Bets are only accepted from the United Kingdom and Ireland, however anyone in the world can view and follow the odds.

Grosvenor Casinos has recently posted odds on who the next WWE Universal Championship Title Holder will be. The title is currently possessed by Brock Lesnar, after a convincing defeat of Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando earlier this month. 16 possible outcomes all with varying odds to bet on but one challenger is favored over all others. With odds of -250 this projects Reigns with a 71% chance of being the one to dethrone Lesnar. This is no shock with the recent rumblings that Brock will unstoppable until Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans where he will be challenged by Roman. If the match happened it would be the 4th consecutive Wrestlemania main event in Roman’s career. These rumors are likely why the odds are set the way they currently are.

Braun Strowman would be the next most likely to take the Universal Championship from Brock with odds of +175, or a 37% chance. Strowman’s star power has risen significantly in recent weeks. After having the most memorable moments 2 weeks back to back on Raw, which included flipping an ambulance on it’s side and superplexing Big Show and breaking the ring in the process, Braun has solidified himself as must see television. His first official WWE tee shirt was introduced and sold out almost immediately and there are certainly major accomplishments in store for Strowman, possibly the Universal Championship.

The returning Finn Balor has odds of +400, or 20%. Balor was the first man to in the Universal Championship before having to forfeit the championship due to injury. Finn is popular enough to handle being in the top spot of the WWE and didn’t get a chance to do so after first earning the challenge. It has definitely been demonstrated that WWE feels Finn deserves a chance and expect a title shot against Lesnar in the future.

Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins both have odds of +700, a 13% projected probability that is very accurately set. Both men have been credible champions in the past, however the aforementioned Reigns, Strowman and Balor appear to the direction the title picture is headed right now.

CM Punk actually has odds to win the title with longshot odds of +2500 or 4%. The Rock is even more of an underdog here than Punk at +3300

Who Will be the Next Universal Champion?

Roman Reigns -250

Braun Strowman +175

Finn Balor +400

Samoa Joe +700

Seth Rollins +700

Bray Wyatt +1000

Dean Ambrose +1500

Jeff Hardy +1500

Matt Hardy +1700

The Miz +1700

Chris Jericho +2000

CM Punk +2500

The Rock +3300

Kurt Angle +5000

Triple H +5000
