WWE News and Rumors April 15, 2017

  • Big E will be officiating weddings in the near future as he was recently ordained online. E says this was an easy process. His decision to begin this side hustle is rooted in knowing he would have time off eventually and likes to keep busy. He will offer entertainment as part of the wedding officiating package.
  • WWE Shop briefly had a Replica Tag Team Championship with a New Day themed leather. These sold out within a few hours due to a limited production. WWE Shop promises these titles will be back in stock within a few weeks.
  • Because of Kofi Kingston’s injury, PWInsider reports that The New Day may not appear on Smackdown Live until Kofi is ready to return. He will be out 2-4 weeks.
  • Booker T will be replacing David Otunga as a Raw commentator. Otunga was recently drafted to Raw and will debut after filming the WWE Studios Film “Katrina”.
  • There was concern among wrestling fans that Charlotte may have been hurt in a match with Nia Jax on RAW. She spoke to USA Today and revealed that while the stunt looked “nasty” to the viewer, she was not hurt in any way and missed no live events.
  • Right now the women’s landscape for Payback if looking to be Bayley vs Nia Jax for the Championship and Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James vs Sasha Banks in a Triple Threat Match.
  • Although a reformation of the Lucha Dragons was speculation with Kalisto moving to Raw, joining the cruiserweight division seems more likely.

  • In an interview with Wrestling INC, Kurt Angle spoke of WWE now being PG as a positive, his possibility of wrestling again and if he has taken a physical yet.   • John Cena has been featured in 2 new commercials for Crocs. Drew Barrymore, YOONA and Henry Lau are also in this commercial.
  • Paige and Alberto Del Rio claimed to have purchased a new home.
  • Both the Boston Logan Airport and the TSA have issued apologies to Lana of her experience at that airport. She described the incident as being violated.
  • WWE.COM has revealed that Renee Young and Dean Ambrose were indeed married and we now know it happened on Sunday.
  • Congratulations to expecting father Apollo Crew.
  • David Otunga’s Raw debut will be delayed for 6 months due to filming the first new WWE Studios franchise of action films.
  • WWE.COM has announced Roman Reigns injuries sustained in an attack by Braun Strowman Monday night. Cracked Ribs, internal injuries and a separated shoulder. Roman Reigns is set to work live events for WWE this weekend.

  • On Smackdown, many fans notices both Dean Ambrose and Renee Young wearing wedding rings. The couple was recently married and this is how they let the world know.
  • Lana lashed out at the TSA on Twitter yesterday. She also thanked an American Police Officer for helping her.

  • A Roman Reigns supporter set up an online petition calling for the firing of Braun Strowman for his attack on Reigns at Raw. Strowman responded on twitter.

“To the WWE we the WWE Universe are not please with Strowman’s Actions tonight on Raw following his brutal attack on Roman Reigns. Me and a lot of the WWE Universe Want Strowman Fired effective immediately he crossed the line tonight following the attack on Roman and now Roman is in the hospital with injuries. If this is what you call Entertainment YOU Failed Miserably. I don’t care if he goes to SD Live We want him OFF of Raw or Fired from the WWE. I have been a fan of Raw for years and out of everything that I have seen happen this was by far the absolute Worst.”

  • Roman Reigns was recently on Talk is Jericho and opened up about the Wrestlemania 31 main event with Brock Lesnar. He consideres Brock difficult to work with and that Lesnar and Heyman wanted Roman squashed in the match. Since, Reigns doesn’t mind physicality, he was able to adapt to Brock’s style. After the match Bret Hart approached Reigns and called the match an instant classic.

“No, it wasn’t easy, by any means. But the thing I had a lot of confidence in is I knew it was just going to be a fight. I knew it was going to be brutal and I like that s–t. Like, hey, if you want to bang, I’m all for it. I’m never scared. But it was just weird. It really was. It was last minute. It was one of those deals where it wasn’t a lot of talking, didn’t seem open to ideas because, essentially, in their minds, and when I say ‘their minds’ I say Brock and Paul, which, that is a powerful pairing right there.”Reigns recalled, “but those two, they’re something else. They wanted to kill me. They were convinced however many people were there eighty [thousand], whatever, they wanted to see me get crushed. They were there and they just want to see Roman get his ass beat. And I can’t disagree with them, but brother [has] got to fight. Hey, you can kick my ass all you want, but I’m going to fight.”

  • WWE has filed a lawsuit against users of BitTorrent who illegally downloaded the WWE Studios film The Eliminators. Forensic software was used to determine the IPs of the culprits.
  • Lita has tweeted both Matt and Jeff Hardy wishing them well in WWE. Lita is a long time friend of The Hardy Boyz but had a falling out years ago over a dramatic break up with Matt.
  • WWE has announced that Kofi Kingston suffered an injury to his right ankle after an attack by The Revival. He underwent surgery and will be out a few weeks. This was also mentioned on Raw by the other members of The New Day as Kofi did not appear.
  • Baron Corbin took it to twitter to call out the TSA for breaking his sunglasses.
  • Alberto Del Rio was indeed contacted by the WWE about another return, however Alberto is happy and thriving wrestling other places.

WWE News Alert 4/10/17

WWE News and Rumors April 10, 2017

  • Wrestlemania 33 set a new record for the highest grossing event at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
  • The current plan is for Kurt Angle to wrestle again in the WWE but he would have to pass a physical.
  • Alberto Del Rio went on several drunken Periscope rants recently, often targeting WWE and Triple H in particular. Much of this was obscenity laced and Paige tried to end the video several times.
  • Jim Ross, despite his multi-appearence deal with the WWE, will continue to announce for NJPW.
  • Jonathan Coachman will no longer be covering WWE on ESPN due to commitments to other projects. Coachman was covering WWE on a voulenteer basis and no longer has the time to be involved.
  • Mauro Ranallo will not be returning to the WWE. He was away from his duties with illness and will continue working outside the WWE. The two parties have severed ties on social media.
  • Rumored plans for this week’s “Superstar ShakeUp” involve New Day, Charlotte being moved to Smackdown. Alexa Bliss and AJ Styles would then make the move to Raw. Other names being bandied about are Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks possibly moving to Smackdown.

  • WWE has announced the inductees of for the 2017 Hoall of Fame Lagacy. They are Farmer Burns, Rikidozen, Haystacks Calhoun, Dr Jerry Graham, Toos Mondt, Jusy Grabel, Luther Lindsay and June Byers.
  • ROH COO Joe Coff denied the rumors of WWE buying ROH and recounted that there was a willingness to allow ROH footage on the WWE Network.
  • WWE offered Conor McGregor to be part of this year’s Wrestlemania but Conor turned the deal down due to money issues.
  • WWE Shop has released a South Paw Regional Wrestling T Shirt and a Bayley Jacket

  • Today’s Birthdays are The Undertaker, Jack Swagger, Christopher Daniels, Epico, Lana and Barry Horowitz.
  • The Hardy Boyz are said to be in serious talks to return to the WWE possibly as soon as Wrestlemania in Orlando.
  • WWE has been having secret meetings to purchase ROH. This has been going on since August and is mostly for the video library, however also could lead to ROH’s weekly show to air on the WWE Network
  • Shawn Michaels revealed on Sam Roberts’ Podcast that he was offered a match with AJ Styles at Wrestlemania that he turned down.
  • Natalya will be inducting Beth Pheonix into this year’s Hall of Fame.
  • Jerry Lawler, who owns the USWA Memphis video library, said on his podcast that it would absolutely be on the WWE Network in the future.
  • American Grit Season 2 with John Cena will start airing on Fox starting June 11.
  • Veda Scott, former ROH manager and valet, was backstage at Smackdown and may be making her way to the WWE.
  • WWE has no current plans to create more episodes of “Sothpaw Regional Wrestling” despite the praise it is receiving.
  • Goldberg could stay in WWE after Wrestlemania for another PPV and television appearances leading up to the special event.

  • A possible trade is in the works between Raw and Smackdown. AJ Styles could possibly be traded for all 3 members of the New Day. This would be the first trade ever in the current incarnation of the Brand Extension and the subsequesent Draft.
  • It has been announced that Kurt Angle will be inducted into the Hall of Fame by none other than John Cena.
  • There are rumblings that Jim Cornette could induct the Rock n’ Roll Express into the Hall of Fame. This would be a surreal event if it were to happen.
  • Rusev indeed underwent should surgery earlier this month and will be on the shelf 2 month. In the meantime Lana was sent to the Performance Center, the WWE’s training grounds.
  • Alexa Bliss may have some antimosity from management for what was considered a poor performance.
  • Luke Harper, on the Gorilla Position Podcast, stated he was frustrated being in the shadow as a Wyatt Family member and is bitter about not being in the Wrestlemania main event.
  • WWE is looking to have Roman Reigns main event Wrestlemania 34 and finally become the top draw in the company.

  • AJ Styles has been removed from the Smackdown roster section of the wwe.com roster and moved to the alumni section. This is to advance the him being fired from Smackdown by attacking Shane McMahon.
  • The WWE Network will debut Southpaw Championship Wrestling on Friday. This will be a comedy program spoofing Southern wrestling.
  • In a retraction from yesterday, it looks like william regal going into the Hall of Fame this year is untrue.
  • Erick Rowan has been cleared to return after recovering from a torn rotator cuff. He was backstage at the latest Smackdown, but did not appear on the show.
  • A recent NXT event poster did not feature Shinsuke Nakamura, adding fuel to the already rampant rumblings that he will be on the main roster very soon.
  • Eva Marie, who was recently released from the WWE, landed the cover of Flair Magazine Egypt.
  • WWE is once again honoring wrestlers from the Pioneer Era with the Legacy Wing of the 2017 Hall of Fame.
  • The Rock replied to a tweet and stated he was trying to get to Wrestlemania. He’s probably very busy right now.
