Royal Rumble Pregame Report for Sunday Betting Odds

The following odds have been sourced from 5Dimes, who accept gamblers from all countries and accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Debit Cards and Bitcoin.

Men’s Royal Rumble

There hasn’t been much change to the Royal Rumble betting odds overnight, however the lines are now available to bettors worldwide in every country, and this is when we see the most drastic moves, dramatic shifts and also may see some projected outcomes flip altogether.

Let’s take a look at every match on the card and recount how the lines have gone up until now, starting with the Men’s Royal Rumble itself. Since the 2017 Royal Rumble ended, odds were already out for the 2018 Rumble, so we’ve had a year to follow these lines and that’s exactly what we have been doing all along. For most of the last year it was Roman Reigns who was favored to win the 2018 Royal Rumble. It’s no secret that the long term plan of the WWE was for Roman to finally get a one on one rematch with Brock Lesnar at this year’s Wrestlemania in New Orleans. He would get this rematch and challenge for Brock’s Universal Championship by winning the Royal Rumble for the second time.

While Reigns had been favored all along, this is no longer the case, as since last week it had been Shinsuke Nakamura who is the leading favorite to win the Rumble. This would presumably lead to a dream match with Nakamura challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. Based on the long history between Styles and Nakamura dating back to their days in New Japan Pro Wrestling through their brief exchange in the 2017 Money in the Bank match where time seemed to stand still, this potential match already has massive buzz and Wrestlemania is the only stage that can even come close to containing this appeal.

While Roman Reigns is still the second most likely to win the Rumble based on the odds, two unexpected names are in the third and fourth most favored positions. If you believe these current odds, both Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler has a legitimate chance to win this match, even though neither have even been announced as being part of it. Dolph was last seen relinquishing the United States Championship, causing the need for a tournament for the vacant title which was eventually won by Bobby Roode in glorious fashion. This leads many to believe that Ziggler has his eye on a more grandiose accomplishment and a Rumble win could be just that.

Daniel Bryan is even more puzzling as he hasn’t wrestled in years since being taken out of the game by “career ending” injuries. It’s no secret that if Bryan had his way, he would be an active performer right now but WWE is not willing to risk Bryan’s health. Bryan has since been serving as the GM of Smackdown Live, a role he appears miserable in. Rumors that Daniel has been secretly cleared exist, however there has not been any solid evidence of this other than these betting odds.

A few details that need to be considered are firstly the rumors that bets on Nakamura, Ziggler and Bryan are being placed internally by someone from the WWE in order to protect the finish of this match. This is a possibility, however if it is true it would most likely mean Roman Reigns is still winning. This brings us to the second consideration of what would happening Roman were to win the Rumble in Philadelphia, where he was booed out of the building even with a surprise appearance by his cousin “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson. Will WWE take this risk for a second time or will they redeem themselves by slotting victory for an “internet darling” like Nakamura, Ziggler or Bryan?

Women’s Royal Rumble

Taking a look at the historic, first ever Women’s Royal Rumble initially saw the most favored performer being Ronda Rousey, who has never even had a single professional wrestling match in her life and is not even advertised for the event. While Rousey winning this would generate the most press, the common criticism is that with this match being so historic that the eventual winner should be a Woman who has been dedicated to her craft for years, working a grueling schedule on the road and paying her dues as a professional wrestler.

Register with 5Dimes to Follow the Odds and Place Bets

Rousey is no longer favored as she and Asuka have been ping ponging as the most likely to win several times, but Asuka has been holding on consistently for at least the past 24 hours. Ronda has publicly stated that she had “better things to do” than be at the Rumble. Ronda could be of course fibbing about this in order to preserve her being there as the massive surprise that the betting odds would have otherwise spoiled for the world. Rousey did make an appearance at Wrestlemania 31 where she gave Stephanie McMahon her much needed comeuppance and a match between the two women had at one point been planned. Stephanie did announce she would be at the commentary table for the Women’s Rumble and for what it’s worth is the 4th most likely to actually win the match itself according to betting odds.

Universal Championship Triple Threat

Brock Lesnar has two challengers for his Universal Championship and his opponents in this Triple Threat Match are Braun Strowman and Kane. Many criticize that Kane is simply in this match to take the fall and protect Braun, who already took a pinfall loss to Lesnar last year. Brock has always been favored to win this match and his odds have gotten even more favorable than they had been initially. This has been lockstep with the idea that Roman Reigns will be challenging Lesnar for that Universal Championship at Wrestlemania in April. Some feel that Strowman will somehow walk away as champion, and while anything can happen, the odds have never reflected this.

WWE Championship Handicap Match

Like Lesnar, AJ Styles will be defending the WWE Championship against two opponents. The difference is that his opponents, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, will be challenging as a team to become “co-champions” in a handicap match as opposed to a Triple Threat. This means that Kevin and Sami have the advantage of working cooperatively towards a common goal, whereas Kane and Strowman will be competing with each other. Even with the lopsided advantage “Team Kami” have, AJ is still favored to successfully defend his Championship.

Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Championships

Both the Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Championships will be defended as well at the event, with both sets of challengers slightly favored to win. In these cases the projections do not mean that the challengers walk away as champions because either could win by DQ or Count Out, which wouldn’t see the titles change hands. As said, the odds are still close in these two matches and are the toughest to call out of all the matches.

Right now challengers Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin are favored to defeat Smackdown Champions The Usos. With Jey Uso recently charged with a DUI, many feel losing the titles would be a corporate penalty for the shame and embarrassment the arrest caused the WWE. For the Raw Championship, Sheamus and Cesaro are favored to beat the team of Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan. Many are predicting an eventual heel turn by Jason, and this match could be what ultimately facilitate this.

Betting Odds Set For Both Royal Rumble Tag Team Championship Matches

UPDATE: Asuka is once again most favored to win the Women’s Royal Rumble, once again being the most favored to win it all.

The opening odds have been set for both the Raw and Smackdown Championships and sees both sets of challengers as favorites, though not by much. In both cases, this does not necessarily indicate any championships changing hands due to the infamous “champion’s advantage” stipulation that forbids a title switch due to a count out or disqualification outcome.

On the Raw side of the tag team division it is Cesaro and Sheamus(The Bar) who are favored to win at -150. The Bar will be challenging Seth Rollings and Jason Jordan, who hold the titles currently and have odds of +100, an even bet. This is extremely close currently.

On the Smackdown end, the Champions are also not the team that is favored to win. The Usos, who are the current champions, have odds of +120 making them the slightest of underdogs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, the challengers, are favored at -162 and this will be a classic two out of three falls match.

As for the rest of the card, there have been no major changes overnight. Brock Lesnar is still favored to retain the Universal Championship Triple Threat Match, AJ Styles is still the favorite in the Handicap Match for the WWE Championship and both Shinsuke Nakamura and Ronda Rousey are projected to win the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches respectively. UPDATE: Asuka is once again most favored to win the Women’s Royal Rumble, once again being the most favored to win it all.

As usual, the most accurate odds in regards to final outcomes will be available the day of the Royal Rumble itself.

Hey everyone! I am super excited about this year’s Royal Rumble because we get to see the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match! This is by far one of my favorite yearly events and has been since its inception. It is also the first event of the year, kicking off the Road To Wrestlemania as the winners of both Rumble matches get a shot at the Championship titles at Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans!

First, let’s get the undercard matches out of the way, shall we?

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin (2-out-of-3-Falls Match) – Well due to the recent DUI Jey Uso received, it would not surprise me to see the Uso’s drop the belts to Gable and Benjamin. WWE seems to be taking things pretty seriously these days.

Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan vs. Cesaro & Sheamus – Will we see two tag team title changes in one night? Perhaps. Will Seth Rollins do that controversial move again? We really hope not. This one is a tough call, but I am going to go with The Bar.

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Kane (Triple Threat Match) – Once again I will complain that I don’t think that Glen Jacobs is taking his political career very seriously, considering primaries are just a few months away. If Braun Strowman does not walk away with the belt, I RIOT.

WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn — 2-on-1 Handicap Match for the WWE Title – This match will probably be hella entertaining, especially for the smart marks. I know that I am looking forward to seeing what these 3 put together. AJ will retain the title.

Also, the Women’s Royal Rumble has experienced another change at the top with Ronda Rousey once again holding the most favorable odds at +137. Ronda, who has not been announced as being at the Rumble, was the original most favored. Asuke, however took over that position but has been knocked out it and now sits in the second most favored position at +150. Very close odds between these two women, but the change is notable.

Shortly after the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble had been announced by the WWE, the gambling odds were set by the oddsmakers. Early odds had the most favored to win being MMA standout Ronda Rousey. This was shocking as Rousey, although inking a deal with WWE last year, has not yet competed in one match. Ronda did get the better of both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at Wrestlemania 31 in a brief scuffle defending Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Rumors of Ronda joining the WWE have been rabid ever since.

While not yet being announced as a participant in the Women’s Royal Rumble, Rousey was the outright favorite. A shift has occurred and the undefeated Asuka has risen to the top of the odds and is the most favored at +162. Ronda has dropped to +175, leaving her second most likely to win.

Another frontrunner is Paige with odds of +600. Paige recently returned with her new group “Absolution” and is getting very impressive reactions. Becky Lynch at +700 is the most favored of the Smackdown roster and Nia Jax is at +1000.

Some interesting possible entrants include Stephanie McMahon at +2000, Maria Menounos at +3300 and Lana at +3300. Possible women returning to the WWE for the Royal Rumble include AJ Lee, Beth Phoenix, The Bella Twins, and Trish Stratus, each with individual odds of +2500. Michelle McCool and Stacey Keibler each have odds of +3300 and Torrie Wilson has odds of +5000.

Over 100 Possibilities to Win the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble with Betting Odds

Major Shift in Royal Rumble Frontrunner

The new year has arrived as we inch towards the Road to Wrestlemania and it all starts with the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia January 28 and live on the WWE Network. The main attraction of this event is the Royal Rumble match itself, a match with decades of history and decided who will go on to the main event of Wrestlemania for a shot a either the WWE Championship of the Universal Championship. Although the Rumble match is limited to 30 superstars, odds are available on over 100 possible entrants and these bets would be speculative at this point.

While odds have been available for most of 2017, those odds gave the best chance to Roman Reigns winning as it has been generally believed that Reigns challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship would be the main event of Wrestlemania this is no longer the case. Roman has unfinished business with Lesnar since Wrestlemania 31, but the new favorite to win the Rumble is John Cena with odds of +225. Reigns is still a close second at +250.

Shinsuke Nakamura has very respectable odds of +275, only marginally behind Cena and Reigns, however AJ Styles is next on the list at +500. With AJ already being WWE Champion, he likely will not even be a participant in the Rumble match. For unknown reasons, Raw Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins is at +800, while his tag team partner Jason Jordan has far less favorable odds at +3300. Jordan replaced an injured Dean Ambrose in that tag team, and although he will likely miss the Royal Rumble, Ambrose still has odds of +2000. Bobby Roode and Braun Strowman have identical odds of +1000.

There are actually many possible entrants that aren’t even in the WWE currently. Goldberg has odds to win of +3300. With odds of +2500, NJPW US Champion Kenny Omega is another long shot but still has better odds than his WrestleKingdom opponent Chris Jericho. Y2J has odds of +3300. The Rock and Undertaker both have odds of +5000 and considering that Taker will be at the 25th Anniversary of RAW, this could be a worthy pick at those lines.

Even CM Punk, who walked out of WWE after the Royal Rumble 4 years ago, has odds of +6600 to return and win it. Shawn Michaels has odds of +8000, while Ryback and Bubba Ray Dudley have odds of +10000. With odds of +15000, both “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Ronda Rousey can be wagered on as well. Rousey is the only woman of this list.

Hulk Hogan, Darren Young, Jerry Lawler, Kevin Nash and James Ellsworth all have odds of +20000.

Even some non-wrestlers have odds to win including Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor, Vin Diesel, Barck Obama and President Donald Trump.

“We All Need to Thank the McMahons”, a Royal Rumble Review by Billy Reil

Well folks, the Royal Rumble has come and gone and what an exciting event it was. Royal Rumble has always been one of my favorite shows of the year, filled with excitement and usually mystery as far as surprise entrants. This show demonstrated the depth on WWE’s main roster as the card was solid was front to bottom. I wasn’t a big fan of some of the pre-show matches, as Sasha Banks has seen better match placement and better chemistry than demonstrated on sunday night, but you can’t win em all so to speak and you can’t always be in the main event. However, it is in my estimation that she should be involved in a trade before her character gets stale and or she tacks on too many jobs. If the WWE creative department doesn’t book her in a 3 way for the WWE RAW Women’s title for Wrestlemania than she should be traded to the smackdown roster to keep the momentum that she has left and keep her involved in main segments/storylines because she is far too talented to have her in the company as a mere afterthought. Nia Jax is the biggest woman on the roster and if continued to be booked like a monster than there should be no stopping her. However, if memory serves me correct, I just saw her lose to Bailey not too long ago and when you try to build a monster heel like Nia Jax, she needs to be protected, and unlike how the story goes with Vince Mcmahon claiming that nobody remembers wins and losses I certainly remember Bailey getting the ‘duke’ on Raw. This match was a clash of styles and I guess it help to build Nia Jax up, but it didn’t do anything for Sasha Banks. I also wasn’t too enthused with how the Raw tag team division has been booked since ‘The New Day’ broke the streak of days as champion and was quickly dethroned afterward by Cesaro/Sheamus. Now I do like both members of ‘The Club’, but it’s also hard to forget how far and often that they were buried on Raw, week after week, month after month, and we’re supposed to just forget that now since they won the titles on the pre-show ? I just don’t agree with this booking philosophy that wins and losses don’t matter. Now don’t get it twisted, I’m not one of these smark writers that hate on everything, and always have a better idea than the creative department does, but it’s just really difficult for me to buy into characters who were just “unlucky for 6 months.” There was a 6 woman tag team match representing Smackdown on the pre-show, and I don’t remember it either because I don’t want to or it was just very forgettable. I shake my head often at matches that are thrown together to either just get talent a paycheck or to fill time, but there must be a better way for both. Back in the day there were those very memorable video packages that would build up the matches on the actual pay-per view. These videos were created to sell the show, they were done for a good reason and were usually excellently put together. As a matter of fact, I remember the WWE having the best video packages in all of sports and this was before the era of sportscenter. Somewhere along the line, the WWE has changed there ways and change isn’t always a good thing.

The Royal Rumble pay per view or ‘special event’ was in itself one of the best shows that the WWE has ever put on in the history of the company. There were at least 2 matches that were 4 stars and that alone is worth the price of admission and we haven’t even added the rumble to that experience. Rich Swann and Pac aka Neville had a good match, lack of crowd heat withstanding, a title change and they had a hard spot following Kevin Owens VS Roman Reigns which was excellently done, well worked, and whomever the agent of the match was should be commended. However good that the chemistry of these two were, the finish was the drizzling shits. I acknowledge that there was some sort of history between Reigns and Strowman within the past 6 months, but to me it was kinda grasping at straws. Given the facts that Reigns was in the ‘Royal Rumble match’ at the end of the night, having Strowman run in and costing Reigns the title made this story a little too convoluted for my taste. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho have been a strangely entertaining 2 man act that I don’t think anybody saw coming when they first started, but Jericho has been known for getting the most of out his opportunity’s. Prior to this run it had looked like Jericho was getting stale and had nowhere to go, but the infusion of Owens, he has breathed new film into that Highlight Reel. Roman Reigns to me has been the biggest heel in wrestling for 2 years now and it appears that there is no end in sight. I find it completely unfathomable that even the smartest of fans and observers don’t see how they are all being okiedoked into believing that Roman is supposed to be a babyface. It is so clear to me and it has been since he pinned Daniel Bryan at Fast Lane a while back that WWE has been trolling their fans into giving heat to Reigns. If Reigns weren’t over than you would hear a pin drop when he comes to the ring, but it is clearly not the case at all, as he gets booed more than any heel in the company. WWE has figured out ways to flip the script clearly by booking Reigns in a way that no WWE superstar has ever been booked. There is a tint of continuity in regards to how WWE booked Cena for years, but In Roman Reigns case they are going all the way. WWE no longer has to find out ways for their babyfaces to “Turn heel”, as it is passe as all hell to do, it’s been done to death, but there is certain genius in how the writing team has changed the game. I like it….alot. Owens and Reigns had a very good match and it wasn’t a 4 star match then it is for sure a 3 and 3 quarters star match. The match of the night was A.J. Styles VS John Cena. I’m not going to go in depth by telling you the names of the all the moves that they hit each other with, but this match was the culmination of their feud, and it featured them kicking out of each other’s finished numerous amounts of times. The last five minutes were absolutely amazing, breath taking, and after Cena won the match there was a clear appreciation of John’s body of work. The crowd has been shitting on John to both troll him and the company as a message that they want indy darling’s and the message has been noted, as A.J. was the absolute face of indy-darlings and this match and feud provided a great book-end to these two and their series of matches.
So the road to wrestlemania has finally begun and this show was almost a perfect set-up for both Elimination Chamber and Fast Lane. The company have methodically built some strong feud’s and the only questions is who will have the belts going into Wrestlemania. Late sunday night, after the Royal Rumble, I listened to a few post-show podcasts and my lord, I was so confused as to how many fans were complaining about the show. I mean it’s really wild to me that the narrative is always the same after the rumble. “I’m going to cancel my subscription to the network, We hate Roman Reigns, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc.” I mean come on people, we have the best women’s wrestling on the planet right now with Charlotte/ Bailey tearing it up on a nightly basis, 2 amazing title matches and a really awesome Royal Rumble match, but yet fan’s and wrestling journalist still find things to complain about. At what point do you check yourself and think how great it is to be a wrestling fan in 2017? The United Kingdom tournament was amazing/ the Cruiserweight Classic was pretty cool and this was within 6 months of each other. Vince should cancel their subscriptions and tell the fans that if they want to rejoin then it will be 29.99 and guess what ? The people would pay the 29.99 believe that. If you want to read about the Royal Rumble match itself then this is not the article for you, but if you want to question how lucky we are and understand psychology then please reread this. I really don’t get the Roman Reigns hate, as he clearly is so improved as an in-ring worker. Do you guys and girls need to be strapped to a chair and be forced to watch late WCW and TNA or shitty indies ? These next two months are going to be pretty incredible as far as culminations of storylines and amazing matches. Oh and by the way, I haven’t mentioned how awesome that Sami Zayn/Seth Rollins match was on Raw. The WWE gave that away on free television for God’s sake, so don’t say that everything is a cash grab. So before you start complaining about the current wrestling product, I want you to think hard about just how many amazing wrestlers that the WWE have employed currently. HHH,Steph and Vince have been amazing towards the fans of wrestling and honestly we need to thank them.

Preshow matches have had odds set and because they were recently posted they haven’t moved like the matches that were posted earlier in the weeks. All are under “end of preshow broadcast grading” to account for a possible “Dusty Finish” in the case an initial decision is reversed or a match is restarted.

A brief explanation on how to read the lines. These are known as “American Odds” or Moneyline and the minus sign is to indicate the favorite and the plus for the underdog. A $100 bet on Sasha Banks at +365 would win $365 because she’s the underdog. At -555, it would take a $555 wager on Nia Jax just to yield $100 because she is favored.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Cesaro & Sheamus -140 vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson +100

Six Woman Tag Team Match
Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella and Naomi -530 vs Alexa Bliss, Mickie Jame and Natalya +350

Singles Match
Sasha Banks +600 vs Nia Jax -1200

The odds for the matches posted earlier in the week have moved and even flipped in the case of the Universal Championship Match, but the “smart money odds” have not been entirely determined yet. This should happen sometime before the event. They are currently fluctuating in either direction.

WWE Championship
AJ Styles(c) +550 vs John Cena -1050

WWE Universal Championship
Kevin Owens(c) -1500 vs Roman Reigns +700

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair(c) -1500 vs Bayley +700

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Rich Swann(c) +650 vs Neville -1350

Randy Orton is still the odds on favorite to win the Royal Rumble at -1200. Orton is so favored right now that a bet on “the field” is +600. This means you can bet against Orton and if anyone else wins the wager is successful.

Royal Rumble “Special Bets” from European Market

The European Market is offering “Special Bets” on the Royal Rumble match with odds on events that could occur during the match. These are from Paddy Power, an Irish sports book known for bizarre and sometimes controversial odds for exotic and novelty betting.

A brief and simple explanation on how to understand these fractional odds. The number on the right if risked would return winnings of the number on the left. So a $6 bet on Sami Zayn lasting the longest in the rumble would yield $5 if the bet is won. Based on these odds, it’s more likely to happen than not. The other extreme would be James Ellsworth’s 33/1 odds on eliminating Goldberg. In this case a $1 bet would win $33 because it’s not very likely to happen.

Odds Shift for WWE Universal Championship Match at Royal Rumble

The odds for the WWE Universal Championship match have flipped completely with Kevin Owens now being favored to retain. The odds were very close to begin with and there is still a relatively narrow margin, however no doubt something of interest occurred to cause this shift in the line. The most probable being heavy bets being placed on Owens moved the line to mantain a “balanced book”.
