WWE News and Rumors – July 1, 2017

  • Original plans for SummerSlam would have seen Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman but now looks like it will be Lesnar vs Roman Reigns. This comes after Roman revealed he is the number one contender for the Universal Championship on Raw. Also expect Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax as well.
  • A third Naomi vs Lana match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship has been made for the July 4 Smackdown Live. This comes after Lana posted pictures showing she had a shoulder up when the referee counted the pinfall Tuesday night.
  • After a brief breakup, Paige and Alberto El Patron have reconciled and are once again a couple.
  • A trailer for Armed Release but WWE Studios featuring Seth Rollins and Wesley Snipes has been released. This is an action thriller and there is no global release date as of press time.

  • WWE has released a full match of Bianca Belair vs Aliyah in a Mae Young Classic qualifying match. Belair wrestles strong style and at one point slapped Aliyah extremely hard and the live crowd bought into this.

  • Gunner, who had wrestled for Impact, debuted as Chad Lail at an NXT live event in St Petersburg Thursday night. He is expected to wrestle full time in NXT.
  • Impact Wrestling will be re-branding as Global Force Wrestling to shed the image that has haunted the company from the Dixie Carter era. Jeff Jarrett, founder of GFW, conducted an interview with Sports Illustrated and spoke of the legal battles involving the “Broken” Hardys. Jarrett didn’t say much other than intellectual property belongs to the publisher, which would be Impact Wrestling. Jeff also talked about a five year plan to reinvigorate the company including video on demand and live events.
  • Rumors are abound that The Colons have requested their release from WWE. SuperLuchas.com fueled this by speculating about tee shirts being sold outside the WWE. Fanning the flames, WWC, a promotion in Puerto Rico owned by Carlos Colon, tweeted the article. This appears to be a weak rumor, but The Colons leaving WWE is a possibility even without the rumors.

WWE News and Rumors March 14, 2017

  • On Smackdown, many fans notices both Dean Ambrose and Renee Young wearing wedding rings. The couple was recently married and this is how they let the world know.
  • Lana lashed out at the TSA on Twitter yesterday. She also thanked an American Police Officer for helping her.

  • A Roman Reigns supporter set up an online petition calling for the firing of Braun Strowman for his attack on Reigns at Raw. Strowman responded on twitter.

“To the WWE we the WWE Universe are not please with Strowman’s Actions tonight on Raw following his brutal attack on Roman Reigns. Me and a lot of the WWE Universe Want Strowman Fired effective immediately he crossed the line tonight following the attack on Roman and now Roman is in the hospital with injuries. If this is what you call Entertainment YOU Failed Miserably. I don’t care if he goes to SD Live We want him OFF of Raw or Fired from the WWE. I have been a fan of Raw for years and out of everything that I have seen happen this was by far the absolute Worst.”

  • There were complaints against Paige online for having a Donald Trump calender. Paige responded that she didn’t support The President and that the calender is actually making fun of him.

  • Roman Reigns was recently on Talk is Jericho and opened up about the Wrestlemania 31 main event with Brock Lesnar. He consideres Brock difficult to work with and that Lesnar and Heyman wanted Roman squashed in the match. Since, Reigns doesn’t mind physicality, he was able to adapt to Brock’s style. After the match Bret Hart approached Reigns and called the match an instant classic.

“No, it wasn’t easy, by any means. But the thing I had a lot of confidence in is I knew it was just going to be a fight. I knew it was going to be brutal and I like that s–t. Like, hey, if you want to bang, I’m all for it. I’m never scared. But it was just weird. It really was. It was last minute. It was one of those deals where it wasn’t a lot of talking, didn’t seem open to ideas because, essentially, in their minds, and when I say ‘their minds’ I say Brock and Paul, which, that is a powerful pairing right there.”Reigns recalled, “but those two, they’re something else. They wanted to kill me. They were convinced however many people were there eighty [thousand], whatever, they wanted to see me get crushed. They were there and they just want to see Roman get his ass beat. And I can’t disagree with them, but brother [has] got to fight. Hey, you can kick my ass all you want, but I’m going to fight.”

  • WWE has filed a lawsuit against users of BitTorrent who illegally downloaded the WWE Studios film The Eliminators. Forensic software was used to determine the IPs of the culprits.
  • Lita has tweeted both Matt and Jeff Hardy wishing them well in WWE. Lita is a long time friend of The Hardy Boyz but had a falling out years ago over a dramatic break up with Matt.
  • WWE has announced that Kofi Kingston suffered an injury to his right ankle after an attack by The Revival. He underwent surgery and will be out a few weeks. This was also mentioned on Raw by the other members of The New Day as Kofi did not appear.
  • Baron Corbin took it to twitter to call out the TSA for breaking his sunglasses.
  • Alberto Del Rio was indeed contacted by the WWE about another return, however Alberto is happy and thriving wrestling other places.
