  • Forbes recently released a list of the top 10 highest paid WWE Wrestlers. These are estimates from the calender year of 2016. Brock Lesnar tops the list this year.
  1. Brock Lesnar – $12 million
  2. John Cena – $8 million
  3. Triple H – $3.5 million
  4. Roman Reigns – $3.5 million
  5. Dean Ambrose – $2.7 million
  6. AJ Styles – $2.4 million
  7. Shane McMahon – $2.2 million
  8. The Undertaker – $2 million
  9. Seth Rollins – $2 million
  10. Randy Orton – $1.9 million
  • After the 4/10 episode of WWE Raw from Long Island went off the air Chris Jericho was attacked by Samoa Joe with Seth Rollins making the save. This led to a tag team match between Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho vs Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens. Rollins pinned Joe with a jumping knee.
  • Finn Balor was banged up after his match with Jinder Mahal on Raw and may be out of action indefinitely.
  • Simon Gotch will be wrestling a few dates in the United Kingdom this July. A 90 day Wwe mandated no complete clause will be expired by this time. And will doing matches 7/22 for XWA Wrestling and 7/28 Pro Wrestling Pride.
  • WWE is interested in Lio Rush who is no longer with ROH and showed up backstage for Raw the night after Wrestlemania.
  • Former WWE talent Victoria has closed her wrestling themed sports bar known as the Squared Circle. The establishment had been located in Chicago and it will be missed by wrestlers traveling through that city.
  • Kane has announced his bid for Mayor of Knox County as a Republican and is focusing his platform on Education and Business, along with keeping taxes low.

  • Roman Reigns was recently on Talk is Jericho and opened up about the Wrestlemania 31 main event with Brock Lesnar. He consideres Brock difficult to work with and that Lesnar and Heyman wanted Roman squashed in the match. Since, Reigns doesn’t mind physicality, he was able to adapt to Brock’s style. After the match Bret Hart approached Reigns and called the match an instant classic.

“No, it wasn’t easy, by any means. But the thing I had a lot of confidence in is I knew it was just going to be a fight. I knew it was going to be brutal and I like that s–t. Like, hey, if you want to bang, I’m all for it. I’m never scared. But it was just weird. It really was. It was last minute. It was one of those deals where it wasn’t a lot of talking, didn’t seem open to ideas because, essentially, in their minds, and when I say ‘their minds’ I say Brock and Paul, which, that is a powerful pairing right there.”Reigns recalled, “but those two, they’re something else. They wanted to kill me. They were convinced however many people were there eighty [thousand], whatever, they wanted to see me get crushed. They were there and they just want to see Roman get his ass beat. And I can’t disagree with them, but brother [has] got to fight. Hey, you can kick my ass all you want, but I’m going to fight.”

  • WWE has filed a lawsuit against users of BitTorrent who illegally downloaded the WWE Studios film The Eliminators. Forensic software was used to determine the IPs of the culprits.
  • Lita has tweeted both Matt and Jeff Hardy wishing them well in WWE. Lita is a long time friend of The Hardy Boyz but had a falling out years ago over a dramatic break up with Matt.
  • WWE has announced that Kofi Kingston suffered an injury to his right ankle after an attack by The Revival. He underwent surgery and will be out a few weeks. This was also mentioned on Raw by the other members of The New Day as Kofi did not appear.
  • Baron Corbin took it to twitter to call out the TSA for breaking his sunglasses.
  • Alberto Del Rio was indeed contacted by the WWE about another return, however Alberto is happy and thriving wrestling other places.

WWE News Alert 4/10/17

WWE News and Rumors April 10, 2017

  • Wrestlemania 33 set a new record for the highest grossing event at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
  • The current plan is for Kurt Angle to wrestle again in the WWE but he would have to pass a physical.
  • Alberto Del Rio went on several drunken Periscope rants recently, often targeting WWE and Triple H in particular. Much of this was obscenity laced and Paige tried to end the video several times.
  • Jim Ross, despite his multi-appearence deal with the WWE, will continue to announce for NJPW.
  • Jonathan Coachman will no longer be covering WWE on ESPN due to commitments to other projects. Coachman was covering WWE on a voulenteer basis and no longer has the time to be involved.
  • Mauro Ranallo will not be returning to the WWE. He was away from his duties with illness and will continue working outside the WWE. The two parties have severed ties on social media.
  • Rumored plans for this week’s “Superstar ShakeUp” involve New Day, Charlotte being moved to Smackdown. Alexa Bliss and AJ Styles would then make the move to Raw. Other names being bandied about are Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks possibly moving to Smackdown.

  • WWE has announced the inductees of for the 2017 Hoall of Fame Lagacy. They are Farmer Burns, Rikidozen, Haystacks Calhoun, Dr Jerry Graham, Toos Mondt, Jusy Grabel, Luther Lindsay and June Byers.
  • ROH COO Joe Coff denied the rumors of WWE buying ROH and recounted that there was a willingness to allow ROH footage on the WWE Network.
  • WWE offered Conor McGregor to be part of this year’s Wrestlemania but Conor turned the deal down due to money issues.
  • WWE Shop has released a South Paw Regional Wrestling T Shirt and a Bayley Jacket

  • AJ Styles has been removed from the Smackdown roster section of the wwe.com roster and moved to the alumni section. This is to advance the him being fired from Smackdown by attacking Shane McMahon.
  • The WWE Network will debut Southpaw Championship Wrestling on Friday. This will be a comedy program spoofing Southern wrestling.
  • In a retraction from yesterday, it looks like william regal going into the Hall of Fame this year is untrue.
  • Erick Rowan has been cleared to return after recovering from a torn rotator cuff. He was backstage at the latest Smackdown, but did not appear on the show.
  • A recent NXT event poster did not feature Shinsuke Nakamura, adding fuel to the already rampant rumblings that he will be on the main roster very soon.
  • Eva Marie, who was recently released from the WWE, landed the cover of Flair Magazine Egypt.
  • WWE is once again honoring wrestlers from the Pioneer Era with the Legacy Wing of the 2017 Hall of Fame.
  • The Rock replied to a tweet and stated he was trying to get to Wrestlemania. He’s probably very busy right now.

  • Today is the final day to order the next edition of WWE SlamCrate and this edition features a SlamCrate Exclusive “Stone Cold” Steve Austin Action figure.
  • An announcement is rumored for this week for William Regal to be inducted into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. (Meltzer)
  • Hulk Hogan is opening up another Hogan’s Beach Shop and will be doing autograph signings there the week of Wrestlemania from 3/29-4/4.
  • Kurt Angle was backstage for Smackdown, which was held in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

  • Shaq vs The Big Show has been nixed from WrestleMania 33 due to WWE and Shaq being unable to reach an agreement
  • There have been reports that cruiserweight Cedric Alexander has suffered a knee injury and will be on the shelf for 3-5 months.
  • Finn Balor, who made his return over the weekend on live events, was back stage at RAW Monday night but did not appear on the show itself. This is presumably to not share the spotlight with a returning Seth Rollins.
  • Jack Swagger has finally been granted his WWE release that was not not originally granted upon Swagger’s request.
  • Kane has been out of action resting his body and has requested time off to run for political office as he desires a Knox County Mayorial Seat in 2018.
  • Rusev is on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury. Speculation is that it’s his shoulder.

  • There is some fake news going around that Serena Williams will appear at Wrestlemania 33. These reports are not credible and unsubstantiated.
  • Jack Swagger is still under contract but has asked for his release.
  • Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper reconciling in the wake of Randy Orton desecrated the gravesite of Sister Abigail is a current rumor and rumbling.
  • Rusev has gotten a haircut and it is much shorter. There is somehow outrage over this.
  • Drew Galloway commented about a WWE return being a possibility.

  • Randy Orton was involved in an incident with a picture seeking fan at a gym in Arkansas. After being interrupted in between sets Orton was photographed without his consent and allegedly delivered an obscenity laced tirade on the culprit.   • Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg is expected to go on last at Wrestlemania 33 as the true main event. This might lead to speculation that one of the two will become Universal Champion by the event.

 

  • Michael Cole is transitioning to an off-air backstage role in the future. He is currently grooming his potential replacements. Cole is still undefeated at Wrestlemania.

 

  • Speaking of Jerry Lawler, he will be announcing the Royal Rumble match itself at the PPV.

 

  • WWE Network is said be finalizing a deal to carry Insane Championship Wrestling, a top independent in the United Kingdom.

 

  • Darren Young has injured his right elbow after an apron bump in a match taped for Main Event vs Epico. No timetable available for recovery as of press time.

 

  • Tajiri is still out of commission from an knee injury sustained in early January in NXT.
