Roman Reigns vs The Rock Wrestlemania 39 Betting Odds

Will The Rock Return to WWE to Face Roman Reigns?

While there hasn’t been any matches officially announced for Wrestlemania in 2023, there is one match that has been heavily rumored for the past several years with the serious possibility of happening next year over the course of two nights beginning Saturday, April 1 and concluding on Sunday April 2 at the Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The long awaited return of Dwayne ” The Rock” Johnson is likely to happen at the extravaganza and The Rock would have the goal of being the one to finally stop the path of destruction of his own cousin, WWE and Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

After not being accepted as a main eventer for years by WWE fans, Roman has since become a megastar. Reigns was able to win the Universal Championship, go into Wrestlemania 38 with that title where he captured the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar and hasn.t been pinned since Decemeber 15, 2019. This current run by The Tribal Chief is arguable the best story in wrestling currently and the most dominant wrestler in modern history. Much of this success can be attributed to Reigns taking on Paul Heyman as an Advocate or “Wise Man” and forming the faction “The Bloodline” with his cousins The Usos.

Is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Related to Roman Reigns?

Roman Reigns’ more famous cousin Dwayne Johnson parallels his cousins’ rough climb to becoming a megastar. Rejected by fans as the plucky newcomer Rocky Miavia, Johnson pivoted and developed The Rock into a character that the WWE fans loved in the 1990’s. Dwayne was able to parlay his success as a top act in WWE into a career as an actor in Hollywood. He has said in the past that he wanted a match with Roman Reigns and the two facing off at Wrestlemania might be the biggest attraction WWE could possibly offer.

Although the match is expected, it is not etched in stone at this point. This didn’t stop BetOnline for posting odds to this rumored bout of Roman Reigns vs The Rock. Opening odds see Roman favored at -175 and The Rock as a +135 underdog. For those unaware of what these odds mean, the minus sign indicates the favorite and the plus sign represents the underdog. The corresponding number after quantifying how favored or unfavored a wrestler or team is. So to win $100 on Roman Reigns, it would take a $175 successful bet to do this. Because The Rock is the underdog and graded less likely to win, it would take only a successful wager of $100 to win $135.

Wrestlemania Vegas Odds Now Available; Who is Favored to Win on the Grandest Stage?

These odds are courtesy of 5Dimes, a sports book accepting customers worldwide.

The current betting odds for Wrestlemania have a healthy amount of time to change and have even been moving slightly already. These are worth paying attention to and nothing about these odds suggest any type of internal leaks within the WWE, but instead sensible projections in the shadow of somewhat unpredictable outcomes.

For the first time ever in the history of betting odds, Ronda Rousey is listed as an underdog going into Wrestlemania. Becky Lynch is the favorite in her challenge for the Raw Women’s Championship leaving Charlotte Flair as a longshot bet. We are also seeing Seth Rollins projected to slay Brock Lesnar, which is unusual for Lesnar, who is usually favored. Other championship matches forecast successful retentions with United States Champion Samoa Joe favored to fend off challenger Rey Mysterio and Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy predicted to continue to dominate the division by beating Tony Neese.

Triple H has highly favorable odds in a high profile “No Holds Barred” match against the returning Batista. After a slowly built tag team break up, The Miz is favored to defeat his former tag team partner Shane McMahon. Braun Strowman has the best odds of winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal with Curt Hawkins, Rey Mysterio and Velveteen Dream having considerably good odds.

Also according to the betting odds, Randy Orton is besting AJ Styles. While Kurt Angle is favored to defeat his opponent Baron Corbin, the match itself is expected to be changed with a new opponent for Angle.

7 Wrestlemania Matches the Oddsmakers Got Right – and 6 That Were Way Off

The sports books didn’t fare very well this Wrestlemania and were only able to accurately project 7 out of 13 matches. 6 upsets happened and some of these were serious upsets. Charlotte Flair ending the undefeated streak of Asuka and both AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar retaining as underdogs were shocking upsets. Enjoy a breakdown of the how the odds settled in every match.

At Least The Oddsmakers Didn’t Get Everything Wrong

Matt Hardy wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal – Matt Hardy was slightly favored to win and eventually accurate line move suggests there had been an inside leak with this particular match. At one point there were other participants that had the most favorable odds including Elias, who ended up in a segment with John Cena. Big Cass also had favorable odds but ended up not appearing at all.

Cedric Alexander defeats Mustafa Ali in the Tournament Finals for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship – Alexander had convincing odds prior to this match and they ended up being spot on for this match. This match’s outcome wasn’t particularly predictable so an inside leak placing bets on this match is very likely.

Seth Rollins defeats The Miz and Finn Balor to become the Intercontinental Champion – Seth Rollins ended up being favored right before this match, although earlier odds had Finn Balor as the slight favorite. Seems like an inside leak based on the line shift coupled with it’s accuracy as a predictor.

Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle defeated Stephanie McMahon and Triple H by submission when Rousey tapped out Stephanie with armbar – This match always favored Rousey and Angle and those odds moved in their favor as we grew closer to the bout itself. Easily predictable attraction match. No leaks needed to call this one.

The Bludgeon Brothers defeated The New Day and the Usos to win the Smackdown Tag Team Championships – Harper and Rowan were favored to win this, but not by much. Based on the Bludgeons recent dominance, the odds favored them and were accurate. It would be very hard to believe this match result leaked or else the winners would have had longer odds.

The Undertaker defeated John Cena with a tombstone – The Undertaker was favored all along to win this, however his odds shortened leading into this, going against sensibilities that the match outcome leaked.

Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss with a second rope Samoan Drop to win the Raw Women’s Championship – Jax was favored all along and the sports book were able to call this one perfectly.

Braun Strowman and Nicolas defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Championship after Strowman hit a running power slam on Cesaro – It’s obvious Braun is at Wrestlemania to look strong. Even though we never knew who would tag with Strowman, he was always favored to win this by the sports books.

Upsets Galore – This is What Happens When Kayfabe is Respected

Naomi wins the Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal – No evidence of inside leaks in this one. Naomi had odds of +1250 for this match and ending up winning. Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley all had competitive odds and lost. A $100 bet on Naomi would have won $1250, so this was probably a case of the finish not being decided until right before the event.

Charlotte Flair defeats Asuka to retain her Smackdown Women’s Championship – Asuka was always heavily favored to win this match and keep her undefeated streak intact. While Charlotte was able to win, causing an upset, the nature in which the odds moved in Flair’s direction in the hours approaching the match suggests an inside leak influencing last minute bets being booked. There was no logical reason to back Charlotte without inside information.

Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton, Rusev and Bobby Roode to win the United States Championship – Rusev ended up being favored right before this match, and was earlier in a dead heat with the champion, Orton. Mahal was eventually a +3300 underdog, so this was an enormous upset. Jinder had a history of defying the betting odds in 2017 and appears to continuing this trend in 2018.

Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn when Bryan was able to submit Zayn with a Yes Lock – While Bryan and Shane were originally favored here, the odds flipped in favor of Zayn and Owens before the match. Bryan and Shane winning was a sports book upset.

AJ Styles defeated Shinsuke Nakamura with a Styles Clash to retain the WWE Championship – This was a shocking upset and Nakamura was convincingly favored all along. The outcome was definitely protected.

Brock Lesnar defeated Roman Reigns with an F5 to retain the WWE Universal Championship – Another huge upset, although the odds moved aggressively towards Lesnar as we grew closer to the match. Brock moved to a marginal underdog from a longshot and ended up retaining. An inside leak is probable for the lines to move in this manner.

Wrestlemania Sunday Pregame Betting Odds Breakdown

These odds are courtesy of 5Dimes, a sports book accepting customers worldwide.

A very suspicious odds move has seen Roman Reigns’ favorable chances slashed from a runaway -1200 to a mere -400. With a Roman Reigns victory being considered a forgone conclusion, this creates a few pressing questions that must be addressed. Is the reason for this strange line move the result of an inside leak? Probably not, if this were the case we might be seeing Lesnar favored right now. Is this because gamblers are drawn to the name value of Brock Lesnar, especially with his UFC history? This is probably the more likely scenario and we will have a better idea of why exactly these odds moved when we get the result of this match. Worth mentioning is that this WWE Universal Championship match is still favored by -2000 to go on last as the main event.

Conversely, the odds actually widened a bit in the WWE Championship match. Shinsuke Nakamura has seen his odds increase from -415 to -620. Royal Rumble winner traditionally are very successful with their corresponding Wrestlemania matches, the attractiveness of this match is less about the result and more about the in ring quality. This could be match of the night.

Another challenger to a world championship that has seen their odds decrease would be Asuka, who is challenging for Charlotte Flair’s Smackdown Women’s Championship. Asuka’s former odds of -1050 have dropped to -825, which are still healthy odds for the “Empress of Tommorow”. European Markets are offering odds on a Carmella cash in at a favorable -150. This bet is on an official cash in of the Money in the Bank briefcase with no regard on if the cash in is a success.

As for the Raw Women’s Championship, the challenger’s odds of winning have decreased as well. Nia Jax’s odds of winning have moved from -390 to -350. With Alexa Bliss’ evasiveness, best displayed in the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber, we could see an upset from “The Goddess”. It’s difficult to believe every title will change hands at this event and it might be valuable to see Bliss’ successful title reign continue beyond Wrestlemania.

Looking into the secondary championship matches, United States Champion Randy Orton is in a dead heat with one of his three challengers. Both Orton and Rusev currently have odds as +100, which is an even bet where you win as much as you wager. This is impressive as Rusev was moved into this match at the last minute to make a Fatal Fourway. The other challengers are Bobby Roode with odds of +765 and Jinder Mahal at +905.

The Interconitinental Championship still has Finn Balor favored slightly, however Seth Rollins has become a close underdog. This match is competitive with the exception of The Miz having dismal odds of +360 to retain in this Triple Threat match.

The Bludgeon Brothers remain slight favorites to win the Smackdown Tag Team Championships in a Triple Threat match between The Usos and The New Day. Braun Strowman and his partner are also still favored to defeat the Raw Tag Team Champions, Cesaro and Sheamus.

In the Tournament Finals for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship, Cedric Alexander’s favorable odds have increased from -295 to -460, a marginal line move. Alexander’s fellow finalist Mustafa Ali is a +320 underdog.

While the unannounced match of John Cena vs the Undertaker is only open in the European sports books, The Undertaker’s odds have dropped from -400 to -295, casting doubt for the outcome of this epic match.

Both the Raw and Smackdown brands have tag team matches centered around the authority figures of each brand. Raw is offering the in ring debut of Ronda Rousey, as she teams up with Raw GM Kurt Angle. Rousey & Angle have seen their odds increase to -825 against Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and WWE COO Triple H.

Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan makes his long awaited in ring return, teaming with Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The odds on this one are very close and haven’t moved significantly. Bryan and McMahon are favored slightly at -180.

The Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal has no clear favorite, however the best odds currently belong to Sasha Banks at +150. The Andre Memorial Battle Royal does have a definite favorite in Matt Hardy with odds of -210. At one point Elias had the best odds to win, and a returning Big Cass is a definite possibility based on his respectable odds.

Wrestlemania Betting Odds Latest Moves

Wrestlemania is this Sunday and just like the Super Bowl is to football, this is the biggest gambling event for pro wrestling. This massive card has had odds out for awhile, and since the global markets were opened last week, some of these matches have moved to become lopsided.

The most favored of anyone to win their match is Roman Reigns with odds of -1200 to beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. This means a $1200 bet would have to be made to make only $100. It has been a forgone conclusion all along that Roman will win this match and this has been an open secret since before the match was even announced. This match is once again heavily favored to main event, going on last at -2000.

While the match has not even been officially announced, John Cena vs The Undertaker is expected to happen at Wrestlemania. This match has been rumored for awhile and WWE has been teasing this match through the proxy of John Cena calling out The Taker weekly. It would be unlike the WWE’s prior business practices to tease a match it cannot deliver so we can count on this match happening Sunday. Even though the match is unofficial at his point, sports books are offering odds and Undertaker is favored at -400. John Cena is a +250 underdog.

Shinsuke Nakamura also has very good odds to defeat AJ Styles in the WWE Championship match. This follows a trend of champions going into Wrestlemania as underdogs. Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss is a +295 underdog and is being challenged by former ally Nia Jax, who is favored at -390. The Intercontinental Champion The Miz is another underdog at +280 and has two challengers to make a triple threat match. Finn Balor is a slight favorite to win this with current odds of -185. Seth Rollins has odds of +360, making him the outsider.

Asuka has superb odds of -1050 to continue her undefeated streak when she challenges Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. A Carmella Money in the Bank cash in is more than likely and the favorable betting odds on a successful cash in have mysteriously disappeared. This prop bet being suspended is actually a great indicator that Carmella will finally be cashing in. It is very probable the betting was suspended due to too many wagers being made on Carmella. Those lines kept moving in the favor of Carmella until it closed.

The only champion that is actually favored is Randy Orton favored at -200 defending his United States Championship in a Fatal Fourway. Of Orton’s three underdog challengers, Rusev has the best odds at +140 to take the title. Jinder Mahal has odds of +250 and the outsider is former champion Bobby Roode with odds of +500. This is actually one of the more difficult matches to predict.

For the finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, Cedric Alexander is favored at -295 to capture the vacant title by defeating Mustafi Ali. Mustafa’s underdog odds of +200 are tempting in this one. Ali has a legitimate chance.

Tag Team and Battle Royal Matches

Both sets of tag team champions lack having lucky odds. Braun Strowman & whoever his opponent end up being have odds of -295 to successfully challenge the Raw Tag Team champions Cesaro & Sheamus. For the Smackdown Tag Team Championships The Bludgeon Brother are slight favorites at -134 to dethrone The Usos for those titles. The champions are slight underdogs at +140 and the New Day are also in this match with odds of +275.

In the special attraction mixed tag team match featuring women’s MMA standout Ronda Rousey, Kurt Angle and Ronda are favored at -530 to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a grudge match. According to some prop bets, we can expect to see this match via submission with Rousey tapping McMahon.

Another tag team match featuring the in ring return of Daniel Bryan has very close odds. Bryan & Shane McMahon are marginal favorites at -155 to defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, +110 underdogs. This is another match that is too close to call as KO and Sami fight to regain their jobs at WWE.

The Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal sees Becky Lynch with the best odds of +125 to win and there is another participant that is very close to Lynch’s odds. Sasha Banks, for example, has odds of +160 to win, but sports books cannot call this one right now. The Andre the Giant Memeorial Battle Royal is a match with a more definitive projection seeing Elias as the -140 favorite to win this match. There are also odds on Big Cass and Samoa Joe, both at +400, which is purely speculative with both being injured and not expected to be in this match.

And the show you may want to skip?

Joey Janelas Spring Break 2

Why? Because we feel that Joey Janela puts his opponents at risk for his own benefit. He has been wrestling far too long to wrestle this unsafely, and honestly, we are astounded that this mark hasn’t seriously injured any of his opponents yet. He disrespects not only those who came before him, but his callous behavior and recklessness also show disrespect for the entire wrestling industry. Even advertising it as a “Clusterfuck” is disrespectful. We seriously hope he doesn’t do anything to put the promoter’s license being used for this show in jeopardy so he can get his rock off. And besides, who over 25 besides perverts and losers go to “Spring Break”?

Sadly while we do not support nor have any respect for Janela, there is some great talent on this card.

Wrestlemania Odds are Now Live

Oddsmakers in Europe have created betting odds for the announced Wrestlemania matches, and even a few that haven’t yet been announced. According to these early projections, none of the current champions are favored.

Challenging for the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns is heavily favored at -770 to defeat Brock Lesnar. Reigns is the most favored out of anyone on the card right now. This match is still favored at -200 to main event, a huge drop from being favored at -1000 just last month.

After earning a title match at Wrestlemania by winning the Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura has chosen to challenge WWE Champion AJ Styles. Nakamura is favored -250 to best AJ. Unlike the Universal Championship match, this one isn’t so predictable.

Charlotte Flair is a +400 underdog to not be champion by the end of Wrestlemania. This particular wager is setup like this to account for the possibility of a MitB cash in from Carmella. While Asuka is favored at -295 to leave Wrestlemania with the title, Carmella has odds of -150 to do the same. So even if Asuka can win the title from Flair, a successful Carmella cash in would cause those betting on Asuka to lose that particular bet, even if Asuka wins the original match.

The United States Championship match has not yet been announced, however odds are being offered on who will walk out of Wrestlemania with that title. With a rumored triple threat match between current champion Randy Orton, former champion Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal, those three names all have odds. Of these three Jinder is slightly favored at -118, while Orton has even odds of +100. Roode is the outsider in this with odds of +375.

Another match that is likely but not yet announced would be Alexa Bliss defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Nia Jax. As a -500 favorite, Jax is long overdue for a championship in WWE and this match has been slowly building for a while, often being put on the back burner.

The special attraction mixed tag team match not only has odds, but also some interesting prop bets. The team of Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey are favored at -625 to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The method of finish is favored to be by submission and Rousey is favored to be the one capturing the fall at -400. Furthermore, while the gender involved with the finish is favored at -400 to be female, the male participants are favored at -625 to start the match.

These are early odds and will move and shift dramatically. Some of these are close enough to flip altogether and all matches are subject to “end of broadcast ruling”, meaning the final announced outcome by the end of the broadcast.

VIDEO – Ronda Rousey Joins WWE and is Training for Wrestlemania

Ronda Rousey Joining WWE to Perform as Full Time Pro Wrestler

One year away from her last fight as an MMA professional fighter, Ronda Rousey, made a rowdy entrance in the WWE world at the end of the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia. It was the glamorous moment of her long-awaited enrollment as a full-time professional wrestler.

And, just as she declared in a press conference, it appears that this is her life at the moment and wrestling is her first priority. Wanting to assure her fans and, probably, the WWE management, she insisted that she’s focusing on this for the next years and also wanted to make it clear that it’s not a one-time thing, a publicity stunt.

In spite of Rousey’s shocking appearance at the first ever exclusively female Royal Rumble, “Rowdy”, was not billed at the event. Her in-ring debut seems to be scheduled on April 8, in New Orleans, as she herself suggested in Philadelphia, by pointing at the sign of WrestleMania.

The nickname “Rowdy” is her tribute to Roddy Piper and she proudly wore the legendary wrestler’s leather jacket at the Royal Rumble. Rousey’s intentions to join professional wrestling were longtime signaled as she made an in-ring appearance with The Rock and Triple H back in 2015. But she left no doubt of her serious intention to the crowd as she stared down Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and this year Rumble’s winner, the Japanese superstar Asuka, before shaking hands with Stephanie McMahon, WWE executive. She did not make her entrance at the main event of the Royal Rumble, the 30-woman match, but surely her bit right after Asuka’s victory was one moment to remember, making the Japanese wrestling star refuse to shake her hand.

The Asuka win gave her the right to challenge Flair or Bliss at WrestleMania, but Rousey’s insertion in WWE might change the championship equation.

It is well known that Rousey is a long time wrestling fan and last year she had several appearances for the WWE audience. Before the official launch of her personal website, she distributed a video featuring her training inside on a wrestling ring. Likewise, Wrestling Observer Newsletter had previously reported that the former mixed martial arts star is getting trained at the WWE performance Centre in East Orlando. And even though she insisted that she had no WWE deal concluded yet, it was later revealed that she fully committed to professional wrestling. Considering the late events and her last public output she made things clear about her future career. As herself stated on her Instagram account, her road to WrestleMania has begun.

Ronda Jean Rousey changed the MMA world in only four years of activity. After her bronze medal in 2008, the first American woman to won an Olympic medal in judo, she won twelve consecutive MMA fights, eleven of them in the first round. She became an Ultimate Fighting Championship star and she is the last Strikeforce Champion, a truly inspirational women’s bantamweight all-time champion. In her last year as a professional MMA fighter, she was ranked by two magazines as the most “dominant” athlete.

In the last years, she became the best-known MMA woman fighter in the world and a pop culture public figure as her fame expanded beyond the Octagon. Hosting entertainment show such as “Saturday Night Live” and developing an active acting career.
